Terms of Use

The agreement between you and ParroTalk. Plain language where possible, formal where necessary.

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to ParroTalk. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and ParroTalk (“ParroTalk,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the ParroTalk mobile application, related software, and any services offered through them (collectively, the “Service”).

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using ParroTalk, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. License to Use

ParroTalk grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Service on Apple devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial English-learning use, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms.

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from the Service.
  • Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Service.
  • Rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the Service or any of its functionality.
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices on the Service.
  • Use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or these Terms.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ParroTalk. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement, that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and that your use of the Service complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

4. Subscriptions, Free Trial & Payment

ParroTalk offers a paid subscription that gives you access to the full feature set. Subscription terms are as follows:

  • Price: $0.99 per month (USD; equivalent in your local currency as determined by Apple at checkout).
  • Free trial: A 7-day free trial is offered to new subscribers. At the end of the trial, your subscription automatically converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel beforehand.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Billing: All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not handle payment information.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your Apple device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are handled exclusively by Apple, consistent with Apple's refund policy.
  • Price changes: We may change subscription pricing. You will be notified in advance, and continued use after a price change indicates acceptance.

5. AI & Educational Disclaimer

ParroTalk uses on-device AI (Apple Intelligence) to generate conversation responses, grammar feedback, and pronunciation guidance. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or interpretations that do not reflect formal English usage, cultural norms, or your specific learning needs.

ParroTalk is intended for educational and conversational practice purposes only. It is not a substitute for certified language instruction, professional translation services, legal advice, medical advice, or any professional qualification. Do not rely on AI-generated content as authoritative. Always verify important information with qualified human sources.

6. User Conduct

ParroTalk processes all content on your device. Even so, you agree not to use the Service to:

  • Engage in illegal, harmful, threatening, or harassing activity.
  • Attempt to prompt the AI to generate content that is hateful, sexual, or that targets any individual or group.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to bypass any technical measures.
  • Use the Service to develop competing products or to scrape, harvest, or republish app content.
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service — including its software, design, text, graphics, illustrations, logos, the “Parro” character, and any other content — is owned by ParroTalk and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your content: Any content you generate within the app (your conversations, notes, vocabulary entries) belongs to you and remains on your device. We claim no ownership over your input or AI-generated responses tied to your usage.

8. Feedback

If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Service, you grant ParroTalk a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use that feedback for any purpose, including product improvement, without obligation to you. We're grateful for the input.

9. Third-Party Services

ParroTalk relies on services provided by Apple, including Apple Intelligence, Speech, CloudKit (iCloud Sync), and StoreKit. Your use of those services is also governed by Apple's terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of third-party services.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF AI-GENERATED CONTENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties — in those jurisdictions, the disclaimers apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL PARROTALK BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR USD $20, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ParroTalk and its developers from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (b) your infringement of any third-party right.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app from your device. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the developer is based, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. For users outside that jurisdiction, local consumer protection laws may grant you additional rights that cannot be waived. Any disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of the developer's jurisdiction.

You agree to waive any right to participate in class actions or class arbitrations to the extent permitted by applicable law.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by an updated “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, surfaced in the app. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
